2007 Healthcare Hero Nominee
Celeste Carnes

The success of the Pulaski Health Center’s school-based health program has given the organization’s hardworking medical staff the opportunity to shine. Among them is nurse practitioner Celeste Carnes.

“She calls parents and does everything in her power to get everyone what they need,” says teacher Jackie Radell. “She always goes the extra mile.”

Carnes’ efforts have helped to enroll 86 percent of Pulaski school students in the program. She says students are comfortable with the program, with many empowered to come in and discuss whatever issues are on their minds.

Carnes is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and works to help local individuals suffering under poor living conditions. Before coming to the Pulaski Health Center, she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She obtained her nurse practitioner certification through Community General Hospital.
